NEW ALBANY, Ind. - A southern Indiana judge has refused to delay the trial of a man accused of killing three women.
WAVE-TV reports attorneys for 55-year-old William Clyde Gibson wanted to delay his trial in the murder of 75-year-old family friend Christine Whitis because they say they need more time to prepare for trial.
But Floyd County Judge Susan Orth denied that request Friday.
Whitis' body was found in Gibson's New Albany home in April 2012. His trial in her killing is scheduled to begin Sept. 23.
Gibson will face separate trials for the murders of 35-year-old Stephanie Kirk of Charlestown and 44-year-old Karen Hodella of Port Orange, Fla. Kirk's body was found buried in Gibson's backyard in April 2012. Hodella's body was found in 2003.
