As tornado cleanup continues, Henryville High School students are fighting to save their prom, and they're lobbying a popular country group to take the stage at next month's dance.

Lady Antebellum launched a contest earlier this year asking students from across the country to submit YouTube videos about why the band should perform at 45-minute set at their school's prom.

In the wake of the deadly tornadoes that destroyed their school, Henryville students set out to create a video the band couldn't ignore.

"This is perfect. We have to do this," said Ty Griffin, 17, who put together a video with fellow students and community members. "I believe it's due of our spirit and how great of a town we are, and I think we deserve it because of that."

Henryville is already getting a lot of support on Lady Antebellum, with fans from across the country urging the band to pick to tornado-ravaged community.

Students will finish out the school year at an off-site location. Prom plans are also in flux, but the dance is set for April 28.

"I'm excited just for the kids to have an opportunity to have prom. No matter who shows up, it doesn't really matter," said Principal Troy Albert. "It's just the fact that we're going to be able to have a prom and to see some smiles on faces off kids who have been through a whole lot of devastation give us a great deal of hope."

The Henryville video is expected to go up later this week. The band will announce the winner March 20.
