Southern Indiana Teacher Faces Child Sex Charges

A former teacher from southern Indiana faces numerous charges of sexual misconduct with a minor after a four-month investigation.

Investigators said John Watts, 27, of Lexington, had sexual activity with a minor between 2002 and 2004. Police said the incidents began when the girl was 14.

Watts was arrested on Wednesday afternoon. He faces 23 counts of sexual misconduct with a minor.

Investigators said Watts was a teacher when the incidents took place, but did not teach the girl involved. Police said he was involved with the girl as a volunteer track coach and youth minister.
