It may look like dinner, but a deceptively sweet treat has been named the signature food of the 2012 Indiana State Fair.Spaghetti Ice Cream, a creation of Monroe Concessions in Marion, features spaghetti-shaped Italian ice cream with strawberry "tomato sauce," shaved white chocolate "cheese" and chocolate "meatballs."

The dish, which celebrates the Year of the Dairy Cows theme, will be sold for $5 on Main Street across from the Pepsi Coliseum.Monroe Concessions owner Bob and Joanie Monroe previously won for their deep-fried chocolate-covered strawberries in 2006's inaugural signature food competition."The last time we won, it was so much fun seeing all the kids get excited about our food," Joanie Monroe said. "This year will be great because kids will love the idea of spaghetti ice cream. It's something people of all ages will like."Online voters selected Spaghetti Ice Cream from a pool of six dairy-themed entries, including fried cheese, beer-infused cheese sauce, a caramel corn sundae and cannolis. All of the finalists' dishes will be sold at the fair. The Indiana State Fair runs Aug. 3-19.
