Indiana State Police are investigating the death of a man who was fatally shot by an officer trying to escape arrest.
Late Thursday night, ISP spotted Justin Compton, 26, in the front yard of a Seeleyville residence.
Compton, wanted on unknown charges, fled into a wooded area just north of Baker Street.
Police said they pursued Compton and a K-9 officer eventually caught up with him.
Moments later, police said Compton allegedly made an aggressive action toward an officer with a knife.
Comptons alleged actions prompted the officer to fire shots, and he died a short time later.
Comptons death remains under investigation, ISP officials said.
An autopsy was scheduled for Friday.
