Teen Killed In I-70 Crash

Car Collides With Truck After Crossing Median

An Ohio teenager was killed when the car she was driving slammed into an oncoming tractor-trailer after crossing a median on Interstate 70 in Putnam County late Thursday morning, state police said.

Julie Ann Donnelly, 17, of Cincinnati, was driving west near Cloverdale when she crossed a median and moved into the truck's path in I-70's eastbound lanes at about 11:30 a.m., police said.

The truck and the 1999 Nissan Altima collided nearly head-on, state police said. Police said the truck's driver -- a 70-year-old man from Taylor, Mich. -- swerved but had no real chance to avoid the car.

Police said they didn't know why Donnelly had crossed the median. Witnesses told police they didn't see anything unusual from her before the car left the westbound lanes.

The truck driver suffered a cut on a hand and was treated at the scene, police said.

I-70 was backed up for a few miles behind the crash as crews attempted to clear the scene.
