TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- A Minnesota-based company announced Wednesday they would be opening a new turkey hatchery in Vigo County that will create up to 100 new jobs by 2018.

Select Genetics plans to invest $22 million in establishing and equipping the new facility in Terre Haute, which will produce young turkeys for commercial use.

The company plans to break ground at their new location in April and production is set to begin in the spring of 2018.

Indiana is one of the top turkey producers in the country. The state raised more than 19.3 million turkeys in 2015.
