HONOLULU - The actor best known for playing Gomer Pyle in the 1960s and crooning "(Back Home Again in) Indiana" at the Indianapolis 500 has married his partner of 38 years.
Jim Nabors, 82, and his partner, Stan Cadwallader, 64, traveled from their Honolulu home to Seattle on Jan. 15 to get married, Hawaii News Now reported.
Gay marriage became legal in Washington state last month.
"You've got to solidify something when you've been together as long as they have," Nabors said.
The couple met in 1975 when Cadwallader was a Honolulu firefighter. Cadwallader.
Nabors said he's been open about his homosexuality to co-workers and friends but never acknowledged it to the media before.
