Colorado McDonald's robbery foiled when employees run away

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Employees of a McDonald's in Colorado Springs foiled an overnight robbery attempt by simply running to the rear of the restaurant.

According to the Colorado Springs Police Department blotter, the would-be robber entered the fast food restaurant at 1:48 a.m. Friday He wore a green hoodie, a baseball cap and a camouflage bandana over his face.

Carrying a plastic bag, he walked up to the front counter and showed employees a handgun tucked in his waistband. He told the employees to "put the money in the bag."

The employees simply ran to the back of the store, police said. The man who tried to hold them up had no choice but to leave empty-handed.
