Jeremy John Way accused of criminal sodomy

LENEXA, Kan. - A Kansas science teacher who has been recognized for his work in the classroom now faces charges involving sexual crimes against a child.

Jeremy John Way, 42, is charged with one count of electronic solicitation of a child less than 16 years old and one count of criminal sodomy involving a child less than 16 but older than 14, according to the Johnson County District Court.

Way was the 2010 recipient of the Educating Excellence Award.  He teaches chemistry and physics, and has also served as the Science Olympiad coach, KSHB reported.

He was booked and released on a $100,000 bond Friday, April 19.

The conditions of his bond state that he is not contact any victims or witnesses, or use a computer.
