Jeremy John Way accused of criminal sodomy

LENEXA, Kan. - A Kansas science teacher who has been recognized for his work in the classroom now faces charges involving sexual crimes against a child.

Jeremy John Way, 42, is charged with one count of electronic solicitation of a child less than 16 years old and one count of criminal sodomy involving a child less than 16 but older than 14, according to the Johnson County District Court.

Way was the 2010 recipient of the Educating Excellence Award .  He teaches chemistry and physics, and has also served as the Science Olympiad coach, KSHB reported.

He was booked and released on a $100,000 bond Friday, April 19.

The conditions of his bond state that he is not contact any victims or witnesses, or use a computer.
