Speedway shooting victim dies at hospital

Police continue search for suspect

SPEEDWAY, Ind. - Police continued their investigation after a man was shot and killed in a shooting at a Speedway apartment complex late Sunday morning.

The incident happened at the Coppertree Apartments in the 2100 block of Fair Oaks Drive just before noon. That is near North Lynhurst Drive and Crawfordsville Road.

Officials said the 30-year-old victim was rushed to Wishard Memorial Hospital in critical condition with a single gunshot wound to his chest. Police said the victim later died as a result of the injury.

The victim was later identified as Fernando Rodriguez-Muniz. Speedway police said Monday the coroner ruled the cause of death a gunshot wound.

Police said the incident appeared to be a “domestic-related situation involving a former boyfriend,” but further details were not released.

Authorities continued to look for the suspect who was believed to be heavily armed, police said.
