Woman Killed In Indianapolis House Fire

Investigators: No Working Smoke Detectors In Home

A woman was killed in a house fire early Saturday morning on Indianapolis' east side.

Fire investigators said two people were trapped inside the home, in the 7800 block of Wysong Drive, when the fire broke out just after midnight.

A man was able to get out before firefighters arrived, but Sandy Hanneman, 67, was found dead in a back bedroom.

The man who escaped the blaze was listed in serious condition at Wishard Memorial Hospital Saturday afternoon.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Fire officials said there were no working smoke detectors in the home.

About $20,000 in damage was done to the home. Investigators were not yet sure where the fire began.
