Rafael Sanchez

'Call 6 For Help' Reporter

Call 6 for Help is one of those rare jewels you find in your professional career.

It is a force that alerts people about scams and rip-offs, exposes con artists, and has the power to cut through red tape. Anybody can tell you a story, but the goal of the Call 6 team is to get results. Since April 16, 2001, Rafael Sanchez has had the privilege to do that as the Call 6 for Help reporter.

Sanchez joined RTV6 in 1998 as a general assignment reporter covering a wide assortment of stories. Since 2001, he has received a number of awards for consumer reporting from the Society of Professional Journalists, The Associated Press, and Indianapolis Monthly magazine.

Previously, Sanchez worked at television stations in South Bend and Fort Wayne, Ind., as well as Lubbock, Texas, and Yuma, Ariz.

Originally from New York, Franklin College attracted Sanchez to Indiana. He graduated with a bachleor's degree in three majors: journalism, political science and Spanish.

"My wife keeps me in line, and my children are in control of my schedule and life," Sanchez said. "No matter what celebrity status my job may offer, at the end of the day I still have school lunches to pack and a load of laundry to get done."
