Brad Brown

Brad Brown is the newest member of the 6Sports team. He came to RTV6 in June 2007, going right to work as an anchor and reporter. He is also a contributor and producer of the new High School Sports page on TheIndyChannel.com.

Brown is a native Hoosier, originally from the northeastern Indiana town of Butler. His broadcasting career began as an eighth-grader at Eastside Junior-Senior High School, covering sports on radio and TV in DeKalb and Steuben counties. After graduation, he spent a couple years at Ball State University, before getting his first job with at WANE-TV (CBS) in Fort Wayne.

He came to Indianapolis after seven years in Fort Wayne. During his time "up north," Brown did a little bit of everything: sports anchoring, reporting, producing the midday news and Friday night "Highlight Zone" high school sports coverage, and filling in as an anchor on the morning news.

Brown is a longtime fan of the Colts, Pacers, the Indy 500 and NASCAR. He also works with the Miss Indiana Pageant, serving as master of ceremonies for the state competition the past three years. He has worked with local pageants around the state for nearly 10 years.

"The pageants take care of two things for me: getting away from the desk, the scripts, and the teleprompter and putting me in front of a live audience. I feel like I'm at my best when I can just jump on stage and go," Brown said. "Miss Indiana is a great program for young women and it is a fantastic experience for me just to be a small part of it."

When he gets a chance Brown enjoys traveling. Las Vegas, Nashville, and Detroit ("Go Tigers!") are some of his favorite destinations. He also enjoys cooking and "eating whatever good food the local people have to offer.

“Indy is a great food city and I'm always looking for a good place to sit down and savor the flavors."

His big dream: hosting a game show. Brown has always been a huge fan of TV games, with "The Price is Right" far and away his favorite.

"The new games are fine, but I enjoy the classics: 'Name That Tune,' 'Tic Tac Dough,' 'Match Game,' 'Card Sharks,' 'Family Feud,'" he said. "Those are all great TV shows, even 25 or 30 years later.

"It's always been fun visiting Indianapolis, but living here is even more exciting. I'm lucky enough to have found a place in the heart of downtown and there's always something going on. As a sports guy and a sports fan, this city always has something big. The next major event is always right around the corner. I'm really looking forward to getting a taste of local sports, from a local point of view.

"I know central Indiana loves sports, from the Colts down to college and high school levels. I'm thrilled that I get to be a part of it."
