Trisha Shepherd

Trisha Shepherd anchors the 5, 6 and 11 p.m. newscasts with Todd Wallace. The Chicagoland native joined the 6News team in 2007, arriving from WHO-TV in Des Moines, Iowa where she anchored the morning news.

Before moving to Iowa Shepherd was an anchor/reporter for eight years for WCIA-TV in Champaign, Illinois. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications, Media and Theater from St. Norbert College in De Pere, Wisconsin.

Shepherd brings award-winning experience to 6News. She won an Associated Press Investigative Report award for a piece exposing alleged problems with the foster care system in Illinois.

She also has two Illinois Broadcasters Association Silver Dome Awards for her ongoing coverage of the Class of 2000; reports that followed a group of teenagers from their freshman to senior year in high school.

Shepherd has a long background in choir and theater. She recently appeared as “Snow White” in a children’s musical theatre production at Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre. She is fluent in Spanish and also enjoys reading, biking, hiking, swimming and camping.

One of Shepherd’s greatest passions is helping children. She has recently hosted major fundraising events for the March of Dimes, Ray’s Sunshine Foundation and the Jackson Center, which provides therapy for children with cerebral palsy. She is also a member of the Pacers’ “Read to Achieve” All-Star Reading Team.

She says the hobby that consumes most of her time is entertaining her own kids, Clara and Calvin. Shepherd is married to drummer Ian Shepherd, who is active in the city's live music and marching percussion education scene.
