Whisenhunt Hopeful Warner Will Be Ready Sunday

POSTED: 5:05 pm EST November 23, 2009

(Sports Network) - Arizona Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt said quarterback Kurt Warner left Sunday's game against St. Louis with "symptoms of a concussion," but the coach was optimistic that the veteran would be able to play against Tennessee this coming Sunday.

Warner left the 21-13 victory against the Rams late in the second quarter after taking a blow to the head. He had completed 15-of-19 passes for 203 yards with a pair of touchdowns while helping the Cardinals build a 21-3 halftime lead.

Whisenhunt said Warner was fine on the plane heading back to Arizona on Sunday night.

"He seemed very upbeat and alert, so that was a good sign," Whisenhunt stated Monday. "I feel good about where he is with that.

"We'll have him tested just to make sure, but we're optimistic there won't be any issues with that whatsoever."

Whisenhunt added that Warner was not officially diagnosed with a concussion.

Matt Leinart took over for Warner and connected on 10-of-14 throws for 74 yards.
