POSTED: 5:05 pm EST November 24, 2009

(Sports Network) - The Arizona Cardinals re-signed linebacker Monty Beisel to a one-year contract on Tuesday and released tight end Dominique Byrd.

Beisel, an eight-year veteran, was with the Cardinals from 2006-2008 before signing with Kansas City in the offseason. He appeared in only three games with the Chiefs this season, compiling two tackles before getting cut on September 29.

In 113 career contests, including 19 starts, the linebacker has registered 4 1/2 sacks, two interceptions and 201 total tackles with Kansas City, New England and Arizona.

Byrd, who was taken in the third round of the 2006 NFL Draft out of USC by St. Louis, hasn't appeared in a game this season.

The Cardinals also re-signed defensive end Jason Banks and linebacker Pago Togafau to the practice squad, while releasing fullback Jed Collins and defensive tackle Antoine Holmes.
