Analysis: For the second straight year, the first receiver taken was not the player predicted by anyone to fit into that role. Last year, Houston's Donnie Avery was that guy, selected by the Rams in the second round ahead of the likes of DeSean Jackson, Devin Thomas and Malcolm Kelly. This year, the speedster Heyward-Bey, who scored just 13 touchdowns in his entire career, was a shocking Top 10 pick. Raiders fans will be closely monitoring the production of not only Heyward-Bey, but also Michael Crabtree and Jeremy Maclin, wideouts that Oakland passed over. The Raiders' second pick, Michael Mitchell, was positively bizarre. Mitchell did not even make some pre-draft publications and was seen by scouts as, at best, a fifth-round pick. The third-rounder Shaughnessy was slightly better known, but not much, and was yet another reach. The first Oakland selection that seemed to make sense was Murphy, who has great speed but questionable hands. Hopefully for Oakland's sake, either Norris or Sulak can add a dimension off the edge.

Bottom Line: If Heyward-Bey and Mitchell end up living up to their respective draft positions, we'll all have some apologizing to do to Al Davis.
