Toronto, ON -- (Sports Network) - The Toronto Maple Leafs continued to revamp their backline on Monday, signing unrestricted free agent defenseman Francois Beauchemin to a three-year contract."Francois will be a welcome addition to our blueline," said Leafs general manager Brian Burke, who had also brought in Mike Komisarek from Montreal last week. "He's a rock-solid, steady defender that will add character to our team." The 29-year-old missed the majority of the 2008-09 season with Anaheim while recovering from surgery to repair a torn ACL in his left knee, posting four goals and five points in 20 games. A Stanley Cup winner with the Ducks in 2007, the native of Quebec and former third-round pick of the Canadiens in 1998 has compiled 21 goals and 90 points in 246 games with Montreal, Columbus and Anaheim.
