Tom Davis' Alter-Bio
Tom Davis is clearly waiting on Poteet to retire or be fired, or for old age to finally take its toll. It's so obvious to everyone, but don't let him know that we've overheard his plans to "replace that fossil someday."He grew up in the quaint town of Brookville, Indiana, which is a little bigger than Andrews, and a little smaller than the republic of Uzbekistan. His formative broadcasting years were spent chatting up the hits of the day on the radio in Richmond, Indiana, and eventually in Indianapolis as part of the staff at Gold 104.5, where his contract specified he play only records made before he was born.In an effort to live in a city with really crappy traffic, Tom spent a year on the mean streets of Chicago. In addition to performing as a stand up comedian, he wrote, produced, and performed in a three-man comedy group that staged a live show and short films.
He studied improv with IO Company, a group that has cranked out many Saturday Night Live and TV/Film Comedy Stars. Apparently, Tom is not one of them yet, because we see him every weekday morning in front of intricate interstate maps with flashing icons. He came to the "Good Morning Indiana" Live Drive desk in the fall of 2006. His traffic reporting can also be heard afternoons on 107.9 The Track in Indianapolis.Davis' wife, Tammy, practices law while her husband is practicing broadcasting. Most of his spare time is spent commuting. (Isn't it ironic?) He enjoys riding his motorcycle, and watching open-wheel racing. Clearly he is working out some repressed traffic tie-up anger with these pursuits.Tom says his bio doesn’t go on as long as Paul's because "he hasn’t been around THAT long."
