Early Voting Begins On Hospital, School Projects

Voters Asked To Support New Hospital, School Funding

POSTED: 7:27 am EDT October 5, 2009

Early voting began Monday morning in Marion County for the Nov. 3 special election in which voters will weigh in on special projects.

Voters are being asked to approve a measure that would build a new Wishard Memorial Hospital.

The project can't move forward unless Marion County voters pass a referendum to issue at least $612 million in low-interest public bonds to fund the work.

Voters on Indianapolis' south side are being asked to approve school projects in Beech Grove, Franklin Township and Perry Township.

If approved, each of those projects would result in higher property taxes in those districts.

Early voting hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Marion County Clerk's Office in the City-County Building.

The office will also be open to early voters the two weekends before the election.

Monday is also the last day to register to vote in the Nov. 3 election.
