Celeb Vegas Wedding - Newman/Woodward

Screen Legends Have 50 Years Of Marital Bliss

In 1958, film stars Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward got married in Las Vegas. Woodward, best known for her Academy Award-winning role in 1957's "The Three Faces of Eve," and Newman, best known, at the time at least, for "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof," were two of the biggest stars in Hollywood.

Perhaps the reason the Hollywood marriage lasted is that the two chose to live outside of Hollywood, settling in Connecticut.

They appeared in several films together, including "The Long Hot Summer" and "Paris Blues," and Newman directed her in several others.

The two stayed married right up to Newman's death in 2008.

As to the secret to a successful marriage and staying faithful, he once famously told Playboy magazine, "I have steak at home. Why go out for hamburger?" He also attributed their success to "correct amounts of lust and respect," and said "Joanne is one of the last great broads."
