As one of our investigative reporters, Kara Kenney fights for what’s right and holds those in power accountable. Her investigations into government fraud and waste have earned her an Emmy nomination, an Edward R. Murrow award, and numerous awards from the Associated Press. Her goal is to find the truth and create positive changes in the community.Kenney joined 6News from WBBH-TV in Fort Myers, Fla., where she worked as an Investigative Reporter. In Florida, she worked on a series called “Tracking Your Tax Dollars” where some of her stories led to policy changes in the community.
Before that, she worked for Fox 28 in South Bend, where her investigation into the 911 system earned an Indiana Associated Press award for Best Enterprise Story.She began her career at WAOW-TV in Wausau, Wisc., where her work was recognized with three awards from the Wisconsin Broadcaster’s Association in Spot News, Hard News, and Best Use of Video.Kenney is a 2001 graduate of Indiana University’s School of Journalism. She’s very glad to be back in the Hoosier state, and looks forward to attending many IU basketball games. She lives in Indianapolis.
