Butler University's men's basketball team, which upset ranked teams on its way to a NIT Season Tip-Off championship, moved Monday into The Associated Press Top 25 poll and the USA Today/ESPN coaches' poll for the first time this season.

Butler (7-0) is 19th in the AP poll and 18th in the coaches' poll.

Last week, Butler beat Tennessee and Gonzaga at New York's Madison Square Garden to win the NIT title and then beating Kent State in double overtime on Saturday.

Butler also has wins this season against Indiana, Notre Dame and Tulane.

The Bulldogs were last ranked in the AP poll for three weeks in 2001-02, reaching as high as 20th. The only other time they were ranked was for eight weeks in 1948-49, the first season there was a poll, when Butler reached as high as No. 11.

No other Indiana schools are in the Top 25. UCLA is ranked No. 1.

Butler's next game is at Valparaiso Wednesday night.
