INDIANAPOLIS -- Indiana Pacers forward Shawne Williams was a no-show at a court hearing in Indianapolis Friday morning.Williams faces misdemeanor charges after a traffic stop earlier this month after which he was charged with driving without ever receiving a license. Police said he also had an expired Tennessee license plate.Marijuana was found in the vehicle Williams was driving, but a passenger was charged with possession.
If convicted, Williams faces as much as 60 days in jail and a $500 fine. The hearing was rescheduled for Monday.In a news conference Friday morning, Pacers President Larry Bird said he didn't know where Williams was but will make sure he is in court on Monday."I guess I'll have to walk him over there. I don't know where Shawne's at. I've tried to call him and couldn't get a hold of him," Bird said. "We'll handle it internally. This is just another thing that's been put on my plate."If Williams fails to show for Monday's hearing, a warrant will be issued for his arrest.The team suspended Williams for three games in connection with the case. The Pacers selected Williams with the 17th overall pick in the 2006 NBA draft.
