Iowa City, IA -- (Sports Network) - Kellen Lewis completed 19-of-26 tosses for 322 yards and he accounted for three touchdowns to lead the Indiana Hoosiers to a 38-20 victory over the Iowa Hawkeyes in a Big Ten Conference matchup from Kinnick Stadium. James Hardy caught four passes for 114 yards and a score for Indiana (4-1, 1-1 BigTen), which won in Iowa City for the first time since a 38-31 triumph on October 23rd, 1999. Jake Christensen threw for 307 yards and three touchdowns to lead Iowa (2-3, 0-2), while Albert Young ran for 94 yards on 15 carries. Young also caught three balls for 44 yards, as the Hawkeyes dropped their third game in a row.
Indiana took a 7-0 lead late in the first quarter on a 39-yard completion from Lewis to Hardy. Lewis put the Hoosiers up 14-0 early in the second quarter, hitting Ray Fisher on a four-yard scoring strike. Midway through the period, in a bizarre play, Lewis recovered a fumble following a nine-yard completion to Josiah Sears and he ran 71-yards into the end zone to give Indiana a 21-0 advantage. As time expired in the first half, Iowa finally found its way onto the scoreboard with a 33-yard touchdown pass from Christensen to Trey Stross. Christensen completed a 10-yard touchdown pass to Brandon Myers midway through the third quarter. The extra point by Austin Signor failed and Indiana led, 21-13. Late in the frame, Indiana increased its lead to 28-13 on a one-yard plunge by Sears. Early in the fourth quarter, the Hoosiers added a 46-yard field goal by Austin Starr that gave them a 31-13 advantage. Iowa cut into the Indiana lead minutes later on a 18-yard touchdown strike from Christensen to Derrell Johnson-Koulianos to make it 31-20 Late in the frame, the Hoosiers sealed the Hawkeyes fate with a seven-yard touchdown scamper by Sears for what was the game's final score, 38-20. Indiana registered nine sacks in the contest, its most since posting the same amount against Northwestern during the 1992 season.
