INDIANAPOLIS -- Scalpers, online brokers and others figure to reap lots of cash for tickets to Sunday's showdown between the New England Patriots and the Indianapolis Colts. The game between the two undefeated teams at the RCA Dome is officially sold out, but demand for tickets will be good for anyone looking to sell. Tickets for exclusive club seating may sell for as high as $5,500. StubHub.com is offering upper-level sideline seats for $167.50, and that's a bargain.
Move closer to the field, and the price skyrockets. Lower-level sideline seats are going for as much as $4,000, while VIP and club seating surpasses $5,000, according to The Associated Press. Many factors are stoking the game's appeal. The Colts (7-0) won last year's Super Bowl, and the Patriots (8-0) won three of the five prior to that. And the teams have often stood in each other's way to get to the championship game. The Colts are the first team since the Green Bay Packers of 1929 to 1931 to start three straight seasons with 7-0 records. The Patriots have started this year with gaudy offensive numbers, averaging 41 points per game."I think it's a combination of all of those things. The buildup has made this game just as popular, if not more popular, than the AFC championship game last year," said Renny Harrison of Circle City Tickets.Colts Owner Promises 'Big Announcement' TuesdayThe Colts will hold a celebration for fans on Indianapolis' Monument Circle on Tuesday, and Colts owner Jim Irsay said he will have a "big announcement" during the festivities. The "Blue Tuesday" celebration, which will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., will include live music, prizes and a chance to win game tickets. The team said Irsay will announce a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Colts fans across Indiana.
