Colts Fans Get Chance To Win Super Bowl Rings

Team's Owner Announces Contest At Special Blue Tuesday Event

UPDATED: 12:21 pm EDT October 30, 2007

Indianapolis Colts fans will get the chance to win one of five authentic Super Bowl XLI rings in a three-tiered contest that will benefit charities in the state, Colts owner Jim Irsay announced Tuesday.

The Colts are providing the ring opportunity to fans during a contest they have dubbed the "Quest for the Ring."

To win, contestants will have to make it through a three-stage process, ending with a final challenge during halftime of the team's home game on Dec. 2.

Fans need to purchase at least one $5 ticket to enter the contest, with as many as 200,000 tickets set to be sold from Tuesday through Nov. 20. The tickets can be bought at the RCA Dome box office and in kiosks at the Colts games on Nov. 4 and Nov. 18. Tickets can also be purchased through Ticketmaster.

From those tickets, 25 winning numbers and 20 alternate winners will be randomly selected on Nov. 21 and posted on the team's Web site.

Winners who notify the organization by 5 p.m. Nov. 27 will move on to stage two of the contest, which involves a treasure hunt for Colts-related items in the city from Nov. 30 through Dec. 1. If some of the originally chosen winning numbers aren't claimed, new contestants will be chosen from the alternate winners.

Of those participants, 10 will move on to stage three, based on how well they do in the treasure hunt.

At halftime of the Dec. 2 home game, stage two winners will select a locked box and key to open. Five of the finalists will find a Super Bowl XLI ring inside.

"We would not be truly victorious without the support of our fans and our community, and we have created Quest for the Ring in recognition of this support," Irsay said. "It will enable us to raise significant dollars for Indiana charities while giving our fans the chance to win a once-in-a-lifetime prize."

Proceeds from the contest will go to charities through the Indianapolis Colts Foundation Inc.

The announcement came just after noon at a Blue Tuesday celebration at Monument Circle before this Sunday's showdown between the unbeaten Colts and the undefeated New England Patriots.

Tickets for the highly-anticipated match-up are going for as much as $5,500 in online venues.
