INDIANAPOLIS -- As the Indianapolis Colts begin their 2008 playoff run, speculation about the intentions of coach Tony Dungy spurred team owner Jim Irsay to offer specific perks to sway the coach to come back for another year, sources said.Dungy's children transferred from Indianapolis schools to schools in the Tampa area. The coach said he always takes a few days off and makes a decision about the next season afterward. The Colts were said to have offered Dungy the options of taking several months off in the off-season and the use of a private jet to fly to Tampa and back to see his son's football games, according to sources.
Colts assistant Jim Caldwell, also a candidate for head coaching jobs in Atlanta and Baltimore, is believed to be the front-runner to lead the Colts should Dungy decide to hang it up.Dungy's contract with the Colts runs through 2009. He is 127-65 in 12 seasons as a head coach.
