Sources: Gordon To Leave IU For NBA

Announcement Expected Monday

POSTED: 3:59 pm EDT April 4, 2008

Eric Gordon will announce next week that he'll leave Indiana University and declare himself eligible for this year's NBA draft, sources familiar with his decision told 6Sports on Friday.

Gordon, this year's Big Ten freshman basketball player of the year and a CBSSports.com first-team All-American, will make the announcement Monday in Indianapolis, according to the sources, whom 6Sports didn't name.

Gordon's father has said that nothing will be official until Monday's announcement.

The guard averaged 20.9 points per game this year for the Hoosiers, whose season ended with a first-round NCAA tournament loss. The Associated Press named him a third-team All-American.

Gordon, who graduated from Indianapolis' North Central High School last year, was impressed with new IU coach Tom Crean when they met on Wednesday, 6Sports director Dave Furst reported.

The NBA draft is scheduled for June 26 in New York.
