INDIANAPOLIS -- An Olympic gymnast from Indiana got a big welcome home Monday.Fellow students at Cathedral High School gathered in the gym to congratulate and welcome Samantha Peszek, part of the U.S. gymnastics team that won the silver medal in Beijing.Aside from all the good wishes and pride in her accomplishments, the school also gave Peszek a crystal shamrock and silver bracelet.
"All the other girls on the team don't understand why I want to come back to high school, even when I'm done with school here," Peszek said.Peszek hoped to compete in more events at the Olympics, but she hurt her ankle just before the American team competed in women's gymnastics qualifications, leaving her only able to compete in the uneven bars.Fellow gymnast Bridget Sloan was honored with a parade through Pittsboro on Sunday.
