West Lafayette, IN -- (Sports Network) - E'Twaun Moore scored 18 points and grabbed five rebounds, as the 11th-ranked Purdue Boilermakers kicked off their 2008-09 campaign with a resounding 82-50 victory over Detroit.

JaJuan Johnson had 17 points on 6-of-8 shooting, while Robbie Hummel totaled 14 points and nine boards for Purdue (1-0), which posted 25 wins last season and earned a No. 6 seeding in the NCAA Tournament before being eliminated by Xavier in the second round.

Thomas Kennedy poured in 18 points and had seven rebounds to lead the Titans (0-1), who finished a dismal 7-23 last year. Woody Payne collected six points, seven boards and dished out six assists for Detroit, which trailed throughout the contest.

The Boilermakers led 40-22 at halftime, and maintained a healthy cushion in the second half en route to the 32-point win.
