NFL Player, Former Purdue Standout Arrested At Indy Bar

Anthony Spencer Faces Public Intoxication, Disorderly Conduct Charges

POSTED: 8:54 am EST January 12, 2009

A former Purdue University football standout who now plays in the NFL for the Dallas Cowboys was arrested at an Indianapolis bar early Sunday morning.

Indianapolis police said Anthony Spencer, 24, and a friend were thrown out of the Have A Nice Day Café, in the 200 block of South Meridian Street, at about 3 a.m. after they became belligerent when the bar refused to allow them to pay to keep it open past closing time.

According to a police report, Spencer and friend Matthew Millhouse, 25, threw punches at bouncers when they were told they had to leave.

Off-duty Indianapolis police officers, who were working security for the bar, said Spencer told them, "I don't give a f*** if you're the police," when told to leave the bar peaceably.

The officers said Spencer and Millhouse persisted. They were arrested on charges of public intoxication and disorderly conduct.

Spencer is a linebacker/defensive end for Dallas. The Fort Wayne native was the 26th pick in the 2007 NFL draft after several strong seasons with the Boilermakers.
