INDIANAPOLIS -- Indianapolis Colts player Darrell Reid was arrested early Sunday after he tried to enter a northeast side nightclub after it was already at capacity, police said. The arrest happened at Club Oxygen near 82nd Street and Allisonville Road at about 1:15 a.m., said Sgt. Paul Thompson.Off-duty officers working security at the club were directing traffic outside the venue, diverting people away after the lounge reached capacity.
When Reid pulled up, officers said he demanded to be let in the club, saying that he knew the owner and that he was a Colts player."The officer who was directing traffic out of the parking area advised him that it really didn't matter who he was, that he needed to leave the parking area as they were trying to get vehicles out and get the number of patrons down to a safe number inside the club," Thompson said. "Mr. Reid is accused of becoming loud and boisterous."Officers said Reid almost hit another vehicle during the exchange.Ivan Duncan, owner of Club Oxygen, said Reid is a regular and an excellent patron."We know him, yes -- very nice guy," Duncan said. "It was a lack of communication. He's welcome to come here and park, and I think it was just lack of communication."Reid was arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct and transported to the Marion County Jail. He was released later Sunday after posting bond. The 26-year-old has spent four years in the National Football League and is a free agent with the Colts, according to the team's Web site. A spokesperson for the Colts said that the team did not have a comment Sunday.Reid was previously arrested in 2007 in New Jersey on a marijuana possession charge.
