INDIANAPOLIS -- Indy Car driver Danica Patrick is used to making headlines on and off the track, but her latest commercial for sponsor and web registrar Godaddy.com pushes the envelope. The commercial will premiere on ABC and RTV6 on race day, May 24. It's a teaser, of sorts, encouraging viewers to go online after it airs to see "what happens next" online, 6News' Tanya Spencer reported. What is included in that Web continuation prompted ABC to tell Godaddy to include a graphic warning about what type of content will be online.
Patrick has never been shy about her sex appeal. As the Internet's most searched athlete last year, her newest ad is sure to keep people talking. The TV version of the ad shows Patrick being pulled over for speeding, but the officer who pulls her over is far from stereotypical -- a buxom blonde who raves that she has what it takes to be a "Godaddy girl.""You seem to have what it takes," Patrick said, eliciting the response, "Oh, I've definitely got what it takes."The officer then strips away her uniform to do a little dance on the hood of Patrick's car.Fans at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on day two of qualifications generally said they found the TV portion of the commercial entertaining."Makes me want to go to Godaddy.com," said one man, laughing.Others said they think the ad is in poor taste or is too much for a mixed audience that will likely include children."Being on national TV, it may be going a little too far," said another man."I have children, so I probably wouldn't approve of it on primetime," another man said."I think it pushes the edge a little, which is what it was meant to do," one woman said, but she wouldn't let her young daughter see it, too. Most said they think Patrick is an inspiration to girls and great for the sport.
