POSTED: 5:41 pm EST November 24, 2009

(Sports Network) - The Pittsburgh Steelers signed a pair of veterans on the defensive side of the ball on Tuesday.

Rocky Boiman, a linebacker with eight years NFL experience, and Corey Ivy, a nine-year veteran cornerback, both signed one-year contracts with the Steelers, who released linebacker Donavan Woods and cornerback Keiwan Ratliff.

Boiman, who was waived by Tennessee prior to the season, has 197 tackles, 1 1/2 sacks and three forced fumbles throughout his career with the Titans, Colts and Chiefs.

Ivy failed to make the Cleveland Brows roster out of training camp. The 32- year-old has 209 tackles, 9 1/2 sacks and three interceptions throughout his career with Tampa Bay, St. Louis and Baltimore.

The Steelers also signed guard Jonathan Palmer to the practice squad and made room by releasing running back Justin Vincent.
