Johnson, Mathis, Ginn Capture AFC Monthly Honors

POSTED: 3:22 pm EST December 3, 2009

(Sports Network) - Tennessee Titans running back Chris Johnson, Indianapolis defensive end Robert Mathis and Dolphins kick returner Ted Ginn Jr. have been selected as the AFC's top players for the month of November.

Johnson rushed for an NFL-best 800 yards during the month and averaged a stunning 6.6 yards on 122 carries, while tying for a league best with seven touchdowns to earn offensive honors. His yardage total for the month marked the most by a player since 1970 and helped the Titans to a 5-0 record for November.

Mathis tied for the AFC lead with 4 1/2 sacks and totaled 16 tackles with two forced fumbles to garner the defensive award. He also helped the Colts to a 5-0 record for the month.

Ginn averaged 30.8 yards on 21 kickoff returns to capture the special teams honor. He returned two kickoffs for touchdowns in Week 8 against the New York Jets. The returns of 101 yards and 100 yards made Ginn the first player in NFL history with two touchdowns of at least 100 yards in the same game.
