Jay Leno, host of "The Tonight Show" on NBC, drove the pace car in 1999's Indianapolis 500. Through a representative of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Leno offered the following observation about the race and its impact on foreign drivers:

"I always enjoy hearing the newfound respect racers from other countries have when they come here, and they realize just how hard this track really is."
