NCAA Game Summary - Miami-Ohio At Butler

Jamie Smalligan and Bruce Horan scored 16 points apiece to lead the Butler Bulldogs to a 61-48 win over the Miami-Ohio RedHawks in a battle of unbeaten teams at Hinkle Fieldhouse.

Smalligan, who also had six rebounds, shot 6-of-9 from the field, including 4- of-7 from three-point land. Horan shot 5-of-10, all from downtown. Guard Avery Sheets scored 11 points while dishing out eight assists, and A.J. Graves came off the bench to chip in with 10 points for Butler (3-0).

Danny Horace led the RedHawks (2-1) with 16 points and 10 rebounds in 35 minutes of action. Horace shot 5-of-12 from the field and nailed 6-of-6 at the free-throw line. William Hatcher added 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the floor.

The game entered halftime deadlocked at 21. Both teams couldn't find their shooting touch in the first half, with the RedHawks shooting 37.5 percent from the floor, while the Bulldogs shot 31.8 percent. Miami missed on all seven attempts from three-point range in the period.

Things picked up for Butler in the second half, as it was able to shoot 52.2 percent from the field. The Bulldogs hit 8-of-12 three-pointers and outscored the RedHawks, 40-27, en route to their third straight win to start the season.
