AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- A man suspected of throwing a chair in a brawl during a Pacers-Pistons game turned himself in to authorities this week, police said.Bryant David Jackson, 35, of the Flint, Mich., area, surrendered to authorities after his attorney contacted police. Police said Jackson is a Detroit Pistons season-ticket holder.
Oakland County Prosecutor David Gorcyca has said the man who threw the chair, which hit several people including a police officer during the brawl at the Palace of Auburn Hills on Nov. 19, could be charged with felony assault. Other participants could be charged with misdemeanor assault and battery. The fight among spectators and players broke out near the end of the game after an on-court dispute over a foul. A fan hurled a drink at Indiana's Ron Artest, who then charged into the stands and approached a man he thought had done it.A brawl ensued as other players and fans became involved.Police last week released video that they said showed the man who threw the chair. Detroit TV station WDIV then released a video that showed clearer pictures of the man, who appeared to loosen a metal folding chair and then run up an aisle. The NBA suspended Artest for the season, Stephen Jackson for 30 games and Jermaine O'Neal for 25. Six players were suspended for one to six games.
