Colts' Doss Apologizes For Gun Charges

INDIANAPOLIS -- Indianapolis Colts safety Mike Doss on Thursday made a public apology for an incident in which he allegedly fired a gun in the nightclub district of downtown Akron, Ohio.Akron police arrested Doss on Sunday morning. He is accused of firing up to six shots from a handgun outside a restaurant at about 2:20 a.m. Sunday. No injuries were reported.
"First of all, I'd like to apologize to the organization, the Indianapolis Colts, especially Mr. (Bill) Polian, Coach Dungy and my coach Allen Williams for the incident over this past weekend, and I want to apologize to my teammates," Doss said Thursday. "They don't need this distraction on them. We're getting ready for a big season and expecting big things."Polian, the Colts' president, said he would announce a team punishment for Doss next week after consulting with the NFL. Head coach Tony Dungy said on Tuesday that punishment would be swift and significant.Doss was arrested on charges of carrying discharging a firearm within city limits, inducing panic and obstructing official business. He was released after posting bond.
