INDIANAPOLIS - Being in the college basketball spotlight is becoming a fairly frequent occurrence for Butler University, so this weekend's visit from ESPN "College GameDay" is a natural progression.
Butler, No. 13 in both the AP and USA Today coaches' poll, is preparing to battle No. 8 Gonzaga at historic Hinkle Fieldhouse at 9 p.m. Saturday.
It's expected to be the stiffest challenge of the season so far for Butler.
College GameDay puts the game on a national stage, with ESPN commentators coming to the Butler campus to ruminate about the game in live shows at 11 a.m. and 8 p.m.
Butler students lined up after the Richmond game Wednesday night so they could be in the audience for Saturday's show.
"Me and a bunch of my friends, we stood in line for like a half-hour to get the wristband GameDay tickets to be able to come to the game this weekend," said Butler student Tyler Smith.
"They were selling them on the opposite side of Hinkle," said student Sean Horan. "People were waiting out in the cold for like 30 minutes. It's a pretty big deal, really exciting."
The game is set for 9 p.m. on ESPN.
