INDIANAPOLIS -- It's been a big transition for the Indiana University men's basketball team, and possibly an even bigger transition for their new head coach, Archie Miller.

Just a few days after he was formally introduced as the new IU basketball coach, Miller sat down with RTV6's Dave Furst to talk about the wave of new experiences and feelings he's had since the big news was announced.

"You walk in here and start to figure out who's sat in these seats, who's talking in here. At the same time, you start to get really motivated," said Miller. "As time starts to get away from that press conference you start to really get the itch to get going."

It wasn't that long ago that the 38-year-old was playing at North Carolina State, but now ready for the new experiences with his new team and in his new home state.

"My thinking with Indiana always has sort of been - it's maybe the Midwest version of tobacco row, it stands on it's own, it's powerful, there's passion for it," said Miller. "The great players, the great coaches - and you start to think about the teams that have won in Assembly Hall, and to me, it's one of the great traditions."

Miller won big in Dayton, 139 wins to be exact, and a trip to the Elite 8 as well. The hope is that it's a banner move coming to Indiana, and his Era with the team has just begun.

"Every day since I've been here, I've taken at least one walk through Assembly Hall," said Miller. "I take a stroll, just walk around and then back up to the office and it makes me understand what we're doing. Don't get caught up in making a thousand phone calls, just inhale it and take it all in."
