INDIANAPOLIS -- The Colts’ first-round draft pick spent Draft Day visiting a children’s hospital instead of hanging out with the other NFL draft pick prospects.
Malik Hooker opted not to attend the NFL Draft in Philadelphia; instead, on the morning of the NFL Draft he spent time visiting kids at the Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Media relations at the Children’s Hospital said Hooker did not have a pre-scheduled visit planned and it was his choice to come visit the kids that morning.
The former Ohio State safety was selected by the Colts Thursday evening with their No. 15 overall pick during the first round of the NFL Draft.

Hooker is the highest draft pick by the Colts since Andrew Luck went No. 1 in 2012. He is the highest defensive player drafted by the Colts since Dwight Freeney in 2002.
