INDIANAPOLIS -- The Indianapolis Colts signed tight end Dwayne Allen Monday to a four-year contract extension.

Allen was selected by the Colts in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He's accumulated 91 passes for 1,045 yards and 13 touchdowns in 43 career NFL games with the team.

The purported $29.4 million deal was first reported by Pro Football Talk. The Colts confirmed the deal later Monday evening, but not the contract amount.

“From Jim Irsay and his family on down we are very pleased to announce the re-signing of Dwayne Allen,” said Colts General Manager Ryan Grigson. “Besides the broad skill set and overall talent level he brings, Dwayne’s tenacity and physicality has always been what has set him apart from the beginning. His genuine love for the people of this community, its fans and for the game of football is what makes him special.”

Allen and fellow tight end Coby Fleener because the first tight end due on the same team in NFL history to each record eight touchdowns apiece in a single season.
