INDIANAPOLIS -- In the first move by new General Manager Chris Ballard, the Indianapolis Colts released D'Qwell Jackson on Thursday.

Jackson, 33, joined the team in 2014 and led the team in tackles in each of his three seasons, including in one season cut short by a four-game PED suspension.

He was selected to his first career Pro Bowl in his first season with the Colts by racking up 184 tackles (111 solo), 4.0 sacks, one pass defensed, one forced fumble and four fumble recoveries (one returned for a touchdown).

He also led the league in tackles at various points of the 2015 season, ultimately finishing second at the end of the year by just four tackles.

“D’Qwell is a consummate professional,” said Head Coach Chuck Pagano. “The way he approaches the game is second to none. His leadership and mentorship provided a valuable example for the younger players on this team. We are grateful for all of his contributions to the organization and wish him the best.”

Jackson's tenure with the Colts came after he spent 8 seasons with the Cleveland Browns.
