The Indianapolis Colts signed a quarterback Friday morning, indicating further issues with Andrew Luck's health.

On Wednesday's practice, Colts' coach Chuck Pagano said Luck was "day to day" with a sore shoulder.

The team signed Josh Johnson to the roster.

Johnson has previously been with multiple teams, most recently the New York Jets. He has also been with the San Francisco 49ers, Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was drafted by the Buccaneers in 2008.

Luck rested at practice on Wednesday. Speculation has grown since the fourth quarter on Sunday, when Luck could be seen wincing when backup quarterback Matt Hasselbeck congratulated him for scoring a touchdown by patting him on the chest.

To make room, the team released cornerback Shaun Prater.

If Luck can't go Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Hasselbeck is expected to start, with Johnson backing him up.

The 39-year-old Hasselbeck's last start was in 2012, when he played for the Tennessee Titans.
