CHICAGO, Ill. -- Kyle Schwarber, a former standout Indiana University baseball player, has been named to the Chicago Cubs World Series roster.

Schwarber will be the team's designated hitter for Games 1 and 2 against the Cleveland Indians.

He played in just two games for the Cubs this season before tearing two ligaments on April 7.

Schwarber played for IU from 2012-2014, hitting 40 home runs and 149 RBI in three seasons. He was drafted fourth overall in the 2014 MLB Draft. Schwarber will the fourth IU baseball player to have played in a World Series, and the first since 1993, according to IU.

He played in the postseason in 2015 for the Cubs, hitting five home runs in nine games.

Game 1 begins Tuesday at 8:08 p.m.
