INDIANAPOLIS - Thousands of race fans trekked to the track Friday as the gates at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway opened for Carb Day.
Gates opened at 8 a.m. Indy 500 drivers took their final practice laps about 11 a.m., followed by the Firestone Freedom 100 at 12:30 p.m.
IMS organizers say while many fans come for the races, the fan favorites remain the concerts and the Pit Stop Challenge, which began at 2 p.m.
Hard rock legends Poison headlined Friday's concert at 3:30 p.m.
