INDIANAPOLIS -- Plans were announced Friday for how downtown Indianapolis will rev-up fans ahead of the historic 100th running of the Indianapolis 500.

"Rock-in-Roar 500" is set for Friday, May 20. It's a free musical celebration on Georgia Street that will feature local and national artists.

"Instead of just coming down and being a passive evening, everybody can get out and sing and dance and be a rock star for the night and just celebrate and kick off the Indy 500 in a kind of different, fun way," said organizer Terry Lingner.

The city will also reveal "Spectacle: Sights and sounds of the Indy 500 on Georgia Street" that same night.
